Queensland Appliance Rebate under BEST Scheme Queensland’s government has enacted Queensland Business Energy Saving and Transformation (QBEST) Rebates scheme and Climate Smart Energy Savers Rebate program to achieve these targets. Under these programs, eligible Queenslanders can apply for rebated low-efficiency to high-efficiency appliance upgrades. A homeowner can either apply for the standard rebate or the low-income rebate. The rebate amount can’t be more than the total cost of appliance and installation. Households earning $66,667 or less taxable income in 2022-23 financial year qualify for the low-income appliance rebate. Queensland Business Energy Saving and Transformation (QBEST) program targets 450K small and medium businesses in the state. Under this program, small and medium-sized businesses in Queensland can avail an appliance rebate up to 50% of the total cost (product+installation) of installing a new approved appliance. For example, to receive a minimum rebate of AU $4,000, a Queenslander business must spend at least AU $8,000 (excluding GST) on appliance installation and product. This AU $16 million cashback scheme was announced by the state government in August 2023. The scheme is a part of $35 million QBEST program. The QBEST, in turn, is a part of a $62 billion Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.
