Figurative Painting Influenced by the neo-expressionists of the 80’s I combine expressionism, representational imagery with a hint of surrealism as well as themes that connect the figure, landscape, and social issues to create a narrative. I like to capture a moment in time and b********* ns place and purpose. Aside from painting and drawing the figure, I use other genres such as still life, landscape painting, and figurative installations. To create a pleasing aesthetic and interesting surface, I use various paints tools and media, including salt, paint, fabric, plaster, clay, paper, and charcoal. Figurative Paintings: A Brief History Figurative art is a piece that is derived from real objects. It is the exact opposite of abstract art that uses colours form and lines in an expressive way that does not define the object or figure as we see it. As a popular art form, figurative paintings vary in style and degree of realism. It features different subjects, from picturesque landscapes to still human subjects. Some of the earliest art pieces, like Paleolithic cave paintings, are classified as figurative paintings. Such paintings depict how humans co-exist with animals and demonstrate the start of human desire to captivate the world. This desire has ignited the passion for art of many amazing artists, including Da Vinci and Botticelli, who produced masterpieces that showed religious scenes and classical themes.
