There are still some great wild areas and big efforts being made to preserve them and provide a living for local people via ecotourism. A growing number of Cambodians are actively involved in educating their people about the importance of preserving Cambodia’s wild heritage and involving local populations in sustainable ecotourism ventures such as those run by Cambodia Bird Guides or the Sam Veasna Centre. Cambodia has a bird list of over 620 birds with 2 endemics, the Cambodian Laughing Thrush and the newly discovered Cambodian Tailorbird.
