Foam Filled tyres are simply pnuematic tyres with a polyurethane foam filling that replicates the performance of the equivalent pneumatic tyre when inflated to its recommended pressure, but have the benefit of being puncture free – they won’t go flat. These tyres are normally heavier than their pneumatic counterparts, and just like a motor vehicle, worn treads will mean that the tyres lose their grip – tyres should be replaced before the tread wears down significantly. Note: when left for long periods under load or in extremely hot environments, foam filled tyres can flat spot. This is temporary as the foam retains “memory” and will quickly return to shape.
