Year after year the S -Works Tarmac is one of the most sought out bikes on the market. Through the years the Tarmac platform has delivered an incredibly responsive yet is still has a very comfortable ride that is great for long days in the saddle. I have had the good fortune riding the various iterations from the SL2 through the SL5 to this the latest and most current version the S Works Tarmac SL6. I knew that Specialized made some big changes to the SL6 model and they announced it with some whopping claims: Increased Compliance! More Lateral Stiffness! 30 Seconds Faster over a 40K TT! And, the one metric that I can actually measure, dropping the Frame Weight by a Whopping 200 Grams (20%)! Well I can tell you without a doubt that they nailed all of these. This bike is amazing!!!! I was completely shocked at the increased aerodynamic performance and improved ride quality! It is unquestionably superior to the previous versions as well as to other frames that I have ridden from Look, Cervelo and Felt. The ride is uncanny and the bike is very light at under 14 pounds as photographed. This frame is good enough for Peter Sagan but you and I can enjoy it too! The bike was bought as a frameset from my local S Works dealer and built up with top of the line components including a full Shimano 9150 Di2 group with an S Works crank and chain********* on their S Works bikes. The wheels are Roval CLX50s with Ceramic Bearings and S Works 26mm Turbo Tires. They are a nearly perfect balance of aerodynamics, stability, comfort, low weight, and traction. Oh, and the braking performance is fantastic with a super consistent braking surface, loads of power and smooth modulation. These work great with the Dura Ace direct mount brakes and Specialized supplied brake pads. I did go with my preferred 3T Ergonova handlebar with an S Works stem and the nifty Di2 junction mount built into the stem. This cleans up the cockpit nicely. I am selling the bike with a brand-new seat post and saddle as I used a zero-offset post with an SLR saddle that I am keeping for my new Tarmac. I have had the bike for nine months but only have about 1100 miles on it. The only reason that I am selling is that this has been replaced with the 2019 Tarmac Disc. Yes, I am indulgent and should be in therapy…. I don’t even think the bike has been ridden in the rain. I also don't wash my bikes with a hose or harsh cleaners. You will thank me for this in a year when all of the bearings are still smooth as butter. The bike is in perfect mechanical condition and there are no notable scratches.
